A privacy legislation was created in May 2011 by the European union directive and it was to be adopted by all EU member countries. The legislation includes:

  • Explain which cookies gather what data and how it is used.

The website covers the EU as long as your website is not hosted within a server inside the EU or your business and targeted customers are not in the EU then your website does not need a cookie consent notice.

What are the types of cookies?

Within the cookie legislation there is a section explaining about the different types of cookies:

  • Session Cookies – These are created when a user visits a website and will expire at the end of that user session
  • Persistent Cookies – These Cookies will be stored on your computer by a web browser and will remain valid until a set expiry date.
